A review from ‘across the pond’ – by Curt

If I had a complaint about this, it would be that I don’t have one on every pole. They are a bit expensive, but for what you get it’s worth it. The price is totally right for what it does and how well it’s built. I love it, my guys love it, and WCR [Ed: our North American Distributor] has hit this one out of the park!

Are Aquadapters Worth It?

Of course they are!  But then we are biased ;-)

See what others had to say here: are Aquadapters worth it?

http://www.cleanitup.co.uk/smf/index.php?topic=116087.0;all

Here are a few of the comments.

Nathanael Jones:

I think they’re worth every penny. Dragging a tap means more hose snags & time wasted reaching for the tap,.. having the tap on your belt means an extra loop of hose to trip over & possible wet leg. The aquaadapter is a vital bit of kit for me.

Darran:

Got the mark 1 – been using it for 6/7 months – would not be without it!

had to add an extra rivet as it started to wear – but all good.

defo, save water and time – and the biggest thing you notice is you dont get water all over the
walls when moving from window to window,

i also turn off for wiping the sill,  this stops that annoying flood that brings out more debris as the brush goes
past.

Lee GLS:

If you use a tap or trigger you prob won’t see any saving in water, BUT you won’t have the annoying loop of pole hose to get snagged and knotted, or if you let the tap run on the ground you won’t have the keep picking it up. As smudger said you can quickly turn it of to wipe the sills.

I also have the same setup as choppsie, not having a pole hose is much quicker.

I have had the mk 1&2, and the mk2 is a big improvement over the mk1. I know they are pricy, but so is a supalite brush, but they are both excellent products, go and get one.

mikeyfaerosyth:

my priority is to make life as easy as possible so best gear i can afford. 60 quid is nowt these days couple extra hours on a shift. for me taps etc were a right hassle, best invention since viagara Wink

Steven Ainger:

i brought the mk1 a/d, and didnt get on with it, after several months of using  it kept getting stuck.
but i informed a/d about the problem and i returned it to them and their customer service was very good.
i purchased the new mk2 a/d with the new thread adapter and it has been alot better imo.
overall i think its a good product and makes my working day easier, still a litttle dear though  Angry

jouk45:

i just can not understand why even to this day 2011 a lot of wfp w/c  are still using the caveman methods of water flow control, i worked out roughly, to pay for a modern technology flow controler like the  aqua-daptor,  or  peter fogwills autobrush, this will cost you lab  around 8 to 15 jobs, thats all it costs, then it is paid for, although i do admit, i keep the remote control, and tap at the brush connected as an emergency only,

Brodex Screw Thread Adapters Now Available

We have a very small first batch of the Brodex Screw Thread Adapters available.  These suit the Brodex Hydra 3YG pole, so you can fit an Aqua-dapter to it without any modification to the pole.

Here are a couple of amateur shots of the product, which will be replaced when the proper ones are done!

Brodex Screw Thread Adapter 2

Aqua-dapter Mk2 optional add-on

The Aqua-dapter Mk2 is now available!

Finally…

The Aqua-dapter Mk2 is available for immediate despatch!

What’s different about the Mk2?

The first, and one of the most obvious differences, is that the body of the Aqua-dapter is now flared out at the end, allowing it to fit directly to larger diameter poles with an outside diameter of 25.4mm (e.g. Brodex Hydra, once the collar is removed).

Another benefit of the flared design is that it has allowed us to develop the Screw Thread Adapter which can be screwed onto your existing thread, allowing you to fit the Aqua-dapter Mk2 to your Water Fed Pole without any modifications! (with the Mk1 you need to remove the screw thread from your WFP.)  There are Screw Thread Adapters to suit poles with Standard threads, Gardiner threads and Brodex collars.

Those aren’t the only improvements though:

  • We’ve changed the plastic used to a high impact engineering plastic, and increased the thickness of the trigger and the side body, strengthening the whole unit.
  • We’ve upgraded to Stainless Steel rivets to improve the end screw fixing, and the end screw now fits into the end of the Aluminium body very tightly before it is fixed, reducing the possibility of any ‘play’ when it’s under stress.
  • You’ll notice that as well as being slightly thicker, one edge of the trigger is chamfered, which helps the tap to turn.
  • The carriage inside the Aqua-dapter now has ‘shoulders’ on the top which reduce rotation of the carriage inside the body, and so assists correct operation of the tap and prevents other problems.
  • Last but not least, the pipe used in the Aqua-dapter is now Aluminium, making the Aqua-dapter Mk2 suitable for use with hot water systems.

As you can see, we’ve put a lot of effort into this new version, and we’re committed to continually improving our products.  There are ‘add-ons’ (similar to the Screw Thread Adapter) planned in the coming weeks and months, but the Aqua-dapter Mk2 itself is here to stay for the foreseeable future!

If you have any questions or comments, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us through the Contact Form on our website, our Get Satisfaction page, or of course via email, and we’ll do our best to respond promptly.

Aqua-Dapter customer service – by Form B

I bought an aqua-dapter a while back, which one of our lads broke.

I liked the concept of the aquadapter but decided not to proceed with fitting them to all the poles due to longevity issues.

Having posted my thoughts on here Aqua-Dapter contacted me and asked me to send the damaged part back to them which I did.

Aquadapter have now sent me back an improved replacement which certainly appears sturdier and I will be trying it out in the next few days.

In this climate of suppliers blaming you for problems you encounter with their product and not honouring warranties I would just like to highlight what a pleasure it has been dealing with Aqua-Dapter.

At no point did they attach a clearly unworkable guarantee to their product yet they replaced it with an improved product without me even asking for them to do so.

Got my TWO aqua dapters :D – by DAMOWFP

Me and my dad are fairly new to WFP. Me having a bad accident and my dad approaching 60 we decided to go into WFP.

Now being fairly new to WFP we looked at remote switching, taps and even kinking the hose to stop the water.

When i saw the aqua dapter i was like WOW! This is going to solve all sorts of problems.

Me and my dad work of trolley systems. As running hoses is just not going to be safe for the public due to the nature of houses and street layout (parking).

Saving water is our biggest priority at the moment! Aqua Dapter to the rescue.

We would use on average 15 litres to do a 3 bed semi. SO i would have half left of a tank and my dad also. So we can do TWO houses then need to refil ( Were looking at 25L tanks now ;) )

We used the Aqua dapter for the first time, and WOW!!! We just managed to get 3 houses done. I don’t know why/how we were managing to save so much water. But here’s what we have been doing.

There are lots of tips to save water tho, thats why i love it.

Switching between top windows. Pull on and off.
Reducing pole to do bottom windows, pull off
Frames and sills, we do a mixture of on and off,on and off.

I love the fact when you are doing a tight a side window, when normally i would get wet. PULL ON, PULL off. So quick so easy!

The aqua dapter looks like NASA made it. Its so well built. I want to buy one just to have on display. It really is a quality piece of art work.

“I have heard your system is not eco friendly”

First time we got this from a customer, since starting two months ago. We went on to explain about rain harvesting and the aqua dapter. She wanted to play with the hose and have a go herself (over 60 years old) She was amazed as to why we brought it. We want to save water we said. Little did she know, its making things easier and we can earn more money.

We are earning more money, simple as. Less time filling, more time cleaning.

We have a gutter clean job coming up and i can’t wait. Well we have around 5 or 6. This is going to be amazing for it.

There are other options, cheaper and dearer. But i can honestly say this product is amazing.

The hose we brought as well, is fantastic. BRIGHT YELLOW and doesn’t kink! But we have only tried in temps of around 5 degrees!

I will be uploading some pics, any honest answers ask away!

I am so impressed with this, we are getting the logo made and info put on our website. “doing our bit for the environment” With a smug feeling we are earning more lol

the aqua dapter in years to come will be on a lot of poles – by Wc Solutions

well that hurt!!

my clx arrived, opened the box and had to cut it to fit the aqua dapter, really nice pole and i was worried when i got a saw to it!

but all is good, fitted the aqua dapter and seems to work really well! needs a good testing out in the battle field.

i bet loads of you guys that have got one didnt notice the very small white tube in the packaging – it fits in the tip of the pole hose to strengthen the connection between the pole hose and aqua dapter – simply little thing but seems to make the difference a little.

loving the clx, i think the clx is gonna be the new slx.

only small prob i had – the self shrink tape that came with the aqua dapter didnt really fit the clx, so i just used some tape i had around, think i would have rather have tape with it than the clear heat shrink tape …

In response to someone saying “Would never cut a pole.trigger everytime.
Not saying aquadaptor isn’t.a good.idea.but I think triggers work great 4 me.”

i see what you are saying but know ive done it – its no biggy.

aqua dapter works really well, its a good bit of kit – yes not cheap but its really well built and im sure ill make the investment back in no time. [bold ours]

like you said triggers work for you – so its just down to what ever works best for each wc and im sure the aqua dapter in years to come will be on alot of poles….

So impressed with aqua-daptor I have now ordered another 3 – by Sure Cleaning

My experience using an aqua-daptor

I was a little uncertain at first whether this product would work and benefit my business. I decided to give it a try and placed my order.

Arrived two days later, it is a very well made piece of kit. The hose appeared thicker than I use and seemed to have a life of its own.

Very easy to fit, took me 5 minutes. I was apprehensive of cutting my pole, but there was no need to be.

First day of use took a little getting use to, I think sometimes I was too gentle trying to pull the hose and so did not always work, however, after several goes got the hang of  turning on and off easily. The hose was also much better than I expected, whilst it still coiled up when gathering up to put away, this actually made it quicker and easier putting pole back in van.

Now been using for several days and most defiantly would recommend it. It is a great bit of kit which when attached to the pole, you don’t know it is even there. It did not really add much weight if any to my pole as I had a long metal collar on my pole which I cut off and replaced with aqua-daptor.

Does it save water, does it save time?  In my case most defiantly yes, not huge amounts but enough to make it worthwhile.

Advantages to me:

1.   Instantly turn water on and off whenever needed: I did not realise how many times customers interrupt you while cleaning 1st floor windows, wanting to pay or ask a question, before I would either let water carry on flowing or have to stop and disconnect, now just pull hose.
2.   Sometimes bird mess needs quite a bit of a scrub but not loads of water, now I can turn water off easily and scrub with brush then easily turn back on.
3.   No more wet leg!!!  When you disconnect your pole hose any water left in the pole hose tends to run out of end of hose, wasting water and sometimes ending up either on your leg or in your shoe! With the aqua-daptor when turned off the water remains in hose!

So impressed with aqua-daptor I have now ordered another 3 to fit on all our poles both short and long so all my team can use them.

A great product, that works like it is meant to with excellent customer back-up from Paul.

This is a 10 out of 10 product – by oddbod

Aqua daptor – 1st day review

Here is my findings on the Aqua daptor after the 1st day of use…..

Firstly, what great service from aqua daptor – delivered on time and as promised, also well packed.
first impressions are that it is very well made with quality components – top marks for this! – i was surprised by the size, slender and shorter than i thought.
fitting to the pole was a breeze, did it 1st thing this morning and took all of 15 mins, inc. removing the thread insert off the slx. – it was simple to fit and the angle adaptor locked up dead in line with the mechanism. (woo hoo!)

Today was a busy day – 22 various properties inc a 1st clean 5 bed detached, so in at the deep end !

Basically, what a great bit of kit! – it made a big difference to cleaning using WFP – so simple to turn off/on water, less than a second and i mean less than a second, by the end of the day i was onto the next window with the water off then on again before i could even locate my in line tap or remote fob.
This in turn meant i increased my flow rate and again reduced time rinsing as after the scrub a few seconds at the top of the window left water flooding down the pain sheets. then a quick pull to stop the flow and wipe over the sills without wasting water – this was also good for stubon stains as i could stop the water flow while scrubbing until the deposit was removed and then start the flow again.

My main concern was snagging and turning on while moving about – well this happened only once all day and as the ‘tap’ is close to hand it is instantly turned off manually rather than pulling the hole again.

Water useage is a little difficault to guage as i had a 1st clean, but i will say that this round normally uses just over 300 ltrs and with the extra clean i have come back with just under 100 ltrs ( 400 ltr tank ) so there is some saving here and by the end of the day i was shaving off a minute or two per property clean with higher flow rate.

The only niggles so far is the pole hose, it so far today has decided to tangle itself into ball rather than lay flat, but hopefully after a few days use it will start to behave!

What more can i say than this is a 10 out of 10 product – well made and a joy to use!

perhaps at £69.99 i would say maybe still a little expensive BUT it beats an inline tap or the remote hands down.

i will see how things go over the next week and update.

Making my life so much easier – by Rob from Wash and Clean

I bought 2 and i’ve got em on my harris poles and were exactly as advertised (good quality) Grin
Check back through these posts and you’ll see what i thought before getting em, i’m glad i was wrong cos they’re making my life so much easier now, no more looking up the drive for the tap or holding the pole hose while slackening the clamps it’s made me a lot quicker.

I’ve lost the ability to quickly change to short poles for downstairs windows but i’m planning on swopping the harris poles over to shorter section slx’s in the near future.

One small point, on the video of em being fitted it shows using tape to build up the pole diameter, when i fitted em to my harris pole end section it was very slightly too big and i had to slacken the clamp right off and gently spring the adapter apart to get em to fit inside but they go with a bit of a push.

I’ve only had em fitted for a week so time will tell but up to now i think they’re great and wouldn’t swop back Shocked

Rob.
