i’ve got a aqua dapter on my slx18 pole and i think its brilliant defo worth the money,

it is better than a pole tap trigger etc no annoying loop hose tangles etc, when i sent it back to get replaced i defo missed it, I dont like wasting water seems daft to me spending lots of money making the pure water and transporting it everywhere to p*** half of it on the floor,

i have a 350l tank and i’ve never drained it yet even with a high flow rate and a long day

it is easily one of the best bits of kit I have bought for my water fed pole system and I’ve lost count of how many friends I’ve recommended it to!!!!

I bought the aqua adapter a little concerned about the cost and if it would be useful/worth the money… it is amazing.  The installation is simple enough and it is really simple to use.  I had to pad the connection out a little bit with some electrical tape, easy enough. I use it on Gardiner SLX 34′ running off a Reach Higher Ground 5 stage pure water system.

We did an Three story apartment complex today where we had taken the screens out already and we had 476 double windows to clean, that is 952 panes of glass.  We had already treated for hard water.  My partner went before me with a sureflo back pack sprayer and 30′ pole with boars hair brush and pre scrubbed, I followed behind with the aqua adaptor and we ran about 70 psi out of the RO and just flooded the glass to remove the dirty water.  Did not matter how Hydro phobic the glass was because when you hit it with a wall of water like that it blasted any dirty water off in about 16 seconds per double window, I mean flooded like a wave and then as soon as you pull the hose the aqua adapter just shuts off instantly as quick as blinking.  No wasted water just explosive rinsing power.  I could not do this with out the aqua adapter as I would waste too much water.  When I would get ahead of Mike I would blast the glass for a second to get it wet, shut off with aqua adapter then scrub wet glass with boars hair brush, then blast it clean.  We did the clean in 8 hours, including moving the van 5 times and setting up the hose each time.  I would guess we made about $1200 today! Aqua adapter paid for! Worth every penny… and more…!

Obviously adding something to the top of your pole increases the weight, and the effect of that extra weight is exaggerated when you’re using your pole at an angle BUT some recent comments could make people overly concerned about the weight of the Aqua-dapter, when really it is very light (approx 200g or 7oz).

200g / 7oz doesn’t mean much to me without something to compare it with, so I weighed some household items for a bit of fun and comparison :

• Thin China mug (empty) 234g
• Banana 221g
• VHS tape 218g
• Small paperback book 213g
• Fuji Finepix Camera 203g

Aqua-dapter (including clamp) 191g
+ Push-fit Connector 7g = 198g
+ Screw Thread Adapter (STA) 17g = 215g

So the added weight really is minimal, and less noticeable when the pole is vertical or resting on the glass.

That said, 2 things have always been at the top of the development priorities list:

1. reducing weight
2. reducing length.

We have to balance the strength and durability of the product against our desire to make it lighter.

So why, after buying lighter poles etc. would you want to add the Aqua-dapter? Well, we think that the positives outweigh (no pun intended) the negatives.  Some advantages of the Aqua-dapter (or disadvantages of other methods) are:

• Operation is very simple and water control is instant
• You can use both hands when working (water on or off) whereas with a trigger you have to have one hand in the same place to use the trigger.
• Triggers (or taps attached to the pole) result in a loop of hose that can get twisted making it difficult to extend the pole, or the loop can catch on things when you’re moving around a property.
• You have to locate and then bend down to switch off the water with an inline tap
• No ‘lag’ waiting for water to flow, or ‘out of range’ or battery problems.
• Connecting and disconnecting a rectus fitting is much slower
• Kinking or pinching the hose means keeping a hand on it
• We have customers reporting 20-30% water saving over other water control methods.
• If you don’t want or need to save water you can turn the flow rate up and so work faster without using more water!

The Aqua-dapter was invented, not by a design team or committee, by a Window Cleaner with experience in engineering and a ‘problem solving’ attitude.  He used it during development (and still uses it now) to make his working day easier and more profitable.  He didn’t want to potentially make things harder for himself by adding weight unless the Aqua-dapter was going to greatly improve his earning potential.
